If you don't have enough RAM or a powerful enough graphics card, I believe that alone could be causing your issues. Next thing would be to clear your cache - if you are fairly new to SL, you may not be aware of the issues a full cache can cause. Even if you can't actually log in to SL - providing you can get to the log in screen, enter your name and password, then choose PREFERENCE, then NETWORK then CLEAR CACHE - hit CLOSE, APPLY, OK and log out. Log in again and see if that helps. If you meet or exceed the system requirements - try uninstalling then reinstalling SL. Bear in mind SL supports Windows XP and Linux as well as Mac - the bugs are still being worked on for Windows Vista as I understand it. Once you've tried all of these, feel free to get back to me in this forum or inworld - my name is Marisa Naheed inworld. I am not a Linden official nor am I employed by Linden Labs, however, I have been inworld for a fair while, and would be happy to try to help you.
